We are a family farm located near Mannheim, Ontario.
We have been selling produce from our farm since 1996. What started out as a wheelbarrow full of pumpkins for our children to sell at the roadside, has turned into a fall destination for many local families, schools, and groups!
Our Shantz Family Farm Heritage
We are very proud to be a century farm – actually reaching our 140th year of operation in 2010! What a milestone! We know that our ancestors would be proud of the heritage that they began. And we look forward to many years of sharing our family farm with our family & many friends & visitors!
Here’s how it all began & how we came to be raising the 6th generation of Shantz’s on this property…
February 14, 1870 – Kevin’s Great-Great Grandfather, Joshua Shantz, purchased the farm from the original owner.
February 19, 1874 – Kevin’s Great Grandfather, Amos Shantz, purchased the farm from his father, Joshua.
March 31, 1919 – Kevin’s Grandfather, Samuel Shantz, purchased the farm from his father, Amos.
April 5, 1948 – Kevin’s Uncle, Melvin Shantz, purchased the farm from his father, Samuel.
September 1, 2005 – After running the farm operation for almost 20 years, Kevin & Angela purchased the farm from Aunt Dorothy Shantz (widow of Uncle Mel, who passed away March 25, 2005). It finally became “our” farm!
